Creating value and impact in an employer led TVET approach

This will showcase global examples of development and implementation of industry focussed TVET and how through personal skills improvement, TVET delivers positive business impact. The speaker will demonstrate how engaging with employers and working with industry provides a strong basis for relevant TVET delivery that increases the required workplace skills of workers, delivers relevant skills and knowledge programmes in an inclusive way, and how this improves the productivity and competitiveness of businesses. During the course of this presentation, case studies and experience from both the UK and across the globe will leave delegates knowing that TVET is a first choice, every time choice.

Speaker Biography

Jonathan is the CEO of Global Skills Ledger Limited and is the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Specialist for the UK Government’s Department for International Trade Education team.

Jonathan’s expertise is used to lead the development of international TVET opportunities for UK skills and education providers, developing the UK TVET export capacity, and promoting the UK’s capabilities in the sector. He works across the entire Embassy and High Commission network to understand where opportunities exist and to promote how the UK is well qualified to be able to undertake the specific roles. As a TVET evangelist, Jonathan remains a world-class skills practitioner delivering TVET solutions across the globe.

Jonathan’s commercially focused experience has been successfully demonstrated globally over 30 years in a broad range of industrial sectors. Being industry orientated, his highly contextualised methodology delivers local, regional and national impact and enables individuals to build skills that sustain long term employment.

He also works in partnership with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the Department for International Development (DFID) in a leading cross-Government role to develop, manage and implement Overseas Development Assistance funded TVET/skills projects being delivered in multiple countries and continents.

A post-graduate in Management and also Learning and Development Provision, Jonathan achieved educational excellence through the technical and vocational training and assessment route. Jonathan is a Freeman of the City of London, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, a member of the Institute of Directors and the Chartered Management Institute.
