Redefining Competency, Challenges, and Opportunities

VET Sector reform is complex, but with some “tweaks” in the right areas, solutions are available that can be implemented quickly.  For participants who think, “there must be a better way”, this session will present industry and RTO based research undertaken by Skills Impact that identifies intractable problems and straightforward solutions for an improved VET sector for all stakeholders.

Speaker Biography

Michael has 30 years involvement in work-based learning and VET. As the CEO of an Industry Skills Council for 10 years, he led industry wide skills standards and qualifications projects including a high impact Innovation Skills Program. As the CEO of Skills Impact (from start-up in 2016) he is now responsible for the skills infrastructure of Australia’s various grown and renewable resource industries, as represented by 12 Industry Reference Committees.
